teachschoolhk #3: ALEXA & CORTANA, GAGANYAAN, FREE DATA, MESSANGER KIDS, WHATSAPP BACKUP

1. Alexa and Cortana: Works together

Microsoft and Amazon on Wednesday announced the release of a public preview of the integration of their Cortana and Alexa voice assistants.
Cortana will be available on Amazon Echo devices, while Alexa will be available to U.S. customers on Windows 10 devices and on Harman Kardon Invoke speakers.
The collaboration is separate from the Alexa app on Windows 10 PCs, the spokesperson noted. "Our collaboration with Amazon is part of a longer-term vision for digital assistants to work together on behalf of our customers."  "Our ongoing goal has been to make Cortana your intelligent assistant, wherever you need assistance, and across many devices and platforms, from Windows 10 PCs to iPhone and Android," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Amazon has about 45,000 skills while Cortana has only about 250, but It isnt the skills since most Alexa users use only a tiny fraction of them. Amazon needs this partnership because its losing ground to Google in the smart speaker market. In Q2, Google had 28 percent of the global smart speaker market, up from 16 percent in Q2 2017, while Amazon had 41 percent, down from 76 percent in Q2 2017, according to Strategy Analytics.

Prime Minister of India India is going to launch its own manned mission by or before 2022. This will be Indias first own manned rocket.

The flood situation in Kerala is worsening with the death toll rising to 100 people. 4. Facebook Messenger Kids app

Facebook has added a new feature to its under-13 chat app, Messenger Kids to make it easier for kids to add their friends on the platform. The social media company is putting this optional feature on iOS and Android platform that will allow kids to request parents approval of new contacts.
TechCrunch points out that to enable the feature, parents will have to turn on the setting that will create a four-word passphrase that can be used to generate contact requests. The connection request will be sent directly to the parents and they will have to provide the four-word passphrase to their Messenger Kids friend. TechCrunch cites that both parents will receive a contact request from their child and both will have to approve the request before the kids can begin a conversation. Apparently, the four-word passphrase will only be visible to the child in the Messenger Kids app and parents will find in the Parents Portal, as per the report.
Facebook brought Messenger Kids app in December last year, bringing some of the functionality from its standard Messenger app along with comprehensive parental controls on their kids account. The new passphrase feature is rolling out on the Messenger Kids app starting today.

5. Tool to predict building collapse.

The new software focuses on turning algorithms and big data into risk assessment and management actions.

Australian researchers on Thursday said they have developed a software tool to predict when a building will crack or its foundation will move, even when a dam could break or a mudslide occurs. The tool uses applied mathematics and big data analytics to analyze intricate ground motion patterns and track location and time of landslides to forecast them up to two weeks in advance, Xinhua news agency reported.

The new software focuses on turning algorithms and big data into risk assessment and management actions. There are always warning signs in the lead-up to collapse or slope failure but the tricky part is identifying what they are, University of Melbourne researcher Professor Antoinette Tordesillas said in a statement.

6. WHATSAPP BACKUP

WhatsApp backups will no longer count against Google Drive storage on your Android smartphone.

WhatsApp has partnered with Google, which will ensure that backups of the messaging app do not count against your data storage space on Google Drive. The partnership will come into effect on November 12, after which WhatsApp users will be able to back up their chats and data on their Drive account without it occupying their Google Drive storage quota.

According to a report by XDADevelopers, Google has already started sending emails to its users who have their WhatsApp accounts linked to Google Drive for backups, announcing the new agreement between both the companies.

WhatsApp also has given a mention of the same on its FAQ page regarding Google Drive backups. The page notes, WhatsApp backups will no longer count towards the Google Drive storage quota. Furthermore, WhatsApp backups that havent been updated in more than one year will be automatically removed from Google Drive storage.

The messaging app is also recommending that users manually back up their data before November 12, 2018, in order to avoid any loss. Users can manually backup their WhatsApp data by going to Settings>Chat>Chat Backup and do a backup of their chats. WiFi is recommended for all data backups.

On Android users have the option of backing up their chats and media to Google Drive. If one changes their Android phone they can restore the data when setting up WhatsApp on a new phone. However, the Gmail account needs to be the same, like the one to which the data was backed up in order for the restoration to be successful.

Google Take away Android from Huawei : Birth of WAR

Be nervous if you're a Huawei customer. Google has reportedly stopped doing business with the Chinese tech company behind the P-series and Mate-series smartphones. Functionally, the revoked Android license means delayed Google updates and, for Huawei's future devices, no access to apps like Gmail or the Play Store . Here is the full story. INCIDENCE A couple of months ago probably a year, there was used between a variety of media articles that the Chinese government is forcing Huawei to implement some kind of spying devices or chips into all of there devices. For all the people who still believe that Huawei just sells the phone, that's not the case, Huawei sells a ton of the things and most of them are in the fiber networks and fiber optics or mostly broadband kind of stuff. So, the majority of networking things actually do happen on the Huawei devices. Now, although there was an investigation happen on to the Huawei and a couple of people got arrested as well but there ...

MSI Trident X - A Silent Killer | A gaming Desktop

For the past three years, MSI has really been pushing a limit. how much power can be crammed into a small case and cooled properly with their Trident lineup. Now, after making some truly small systems MSI has given us the Trident X , a much larger version but also a darn powerful one with Core i9 9900 K and RTX 2080. So let's see what are the amazing feature of this MSI Gaming Desktop. From a distance, the Trident X is a good-looking machine. I appreciate the smaller size. Although, it is unfortunate that it can't be placed on its side like previous Trident models for integration into a home theater setup. After getting closer to the Trident X , things get a little less convincing like the front USB ports and their lettering is in red but then moving around to the GPU it has come in multiple accents and moving over to the other side things get even grimmer. I appreciate that there is a tempered glass panel there but behind that it isn't even painted also the CPU airflow...

THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY, LETs REDEFINE THE BANDHAN OF RAKSHA

Krupa Shah, an acclaimed artist, and philanthropist celebrating Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day with Mumbai Police force. Happy Independence Day and a very Happy RakshaBandhan. You, Me We all are very busy in our lives. Yet, when it comes to our families, our close friends, we are always there for them. To love them. To protect them, to the best of our abilities.      But ever wondered about a force that selflessly works to protects us, so that we can have a sound sleep! A force that safeguards our private and leisure time. A force that ensures our festivals are celebrated with much joy, without dampening our enthusiasm. This force my friends, is the Mumbai Police Force. A force that prioritizes the safety and security of our families and friends over theirs. While we acknowledge their work, what we generally miss is expressing our gratitude to them. Believe me, even the smallest act can do wonders. Today, I saw an opportunity in RakshaBandhan coinciding with I...
